Carpentry Lecturer

Permanent

Location: London

Salary: 33,425 - £46,618 per annum

Are you an experienced Carpenter or Joiner looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

An education provider in London is seeking a Carpentry Lecturer to join its team, delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to students working towards careers in carpentry and joinery. This is a permanent role, offering the chance to bring your industry expertise into the classroom and workshop.

You'll plan and deliver engaging lessons and practical sessions that reflect current trade standards and site practice, supporting learners to build the technical skills and wider knowledge they need to progress into employment or further study.

If you're moving from industry rather than a teaching background, you'll be well supported: fully funded teacher training, mentoring and ongoing development are available to help you succeed in an education setting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching practical carpentry and joinery skills, workshop safety and underpinning theory to learners at a range of levels.

  • Guiding students through level-appropriate assessments and trade qualifications, including NVQ and City & Guilds.

  • Mentoring apprentices preparing for their End-Point Assessment and entry into the industry.

  • Designing lesson plans that connect traditional hand skills with current site practice.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery, or equivalent site or bench experience

  • Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and maths

  • A genuine passion for developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 DTLLS)

  • Assessor qualifications (A1/CAVA)

If you're ready to bring your trade expertise into the classroom and help shape the next generation of carpenters and joiners, we'd love to hear from you.
