Job summary

The Older Adults South Home Treatment Team (HTT) is a multidisciplinary team that provides care and treatment to older adults over the age of 70, or with a diagnosis of dementia, who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Support is provided in their own home as an alternative to hospital admission.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Occupational Therapist will be to undertake comprehensive functional assessments to establish service users' level of function and motivation in attending to activities of daily living. The OT will recommend aids, adaptations, sensory support, and other strategies to promote function, independence and wellbeing.

In addition, the post holder will undertake generic mental health assessments, examinations, and follow up visits. As a Clinical Specialist, the post holder will support service user flow through autonomous decision making when assessing acutely unwell service users at risk of a hospital admission and determining whether home treatment is a safe alternative.
