£60,000 to £80,000 plus car allowance and strong benefits
Remote, with occasional travel to HQ in Scotland and other UK offices (remote options)
Own the design, from tender to construction
You know how to get a 33kV design right. Now imagine owning it from the first tender submission to the final construction pack, on renewables projects that connect clean power to the grid.
This is a lead design role, not a seat at the back of the drawing office. You’ll shape the substations, the protection schemes and the cable routes, and you’ll see them built.
Why this role
Renewables connections are moving fast. Engineers who can both win the work and design it properly are rare, and here you do both.
Your tender designs set the price and the approach
Your technical judgement stays with the project all the way through delivery
You’ll work with civil and structural designers, the estimating team and the DNOs and IDNOs, so your view carries weight in client meetings and design reviews
What you’ll do
*
Lead substation design: layout, protection and control, earthing and auxiliary systems
*
Produce tender submissions for connections and the electrical infrastructure around them
*
Run site assessments and feasibility studies for network extensions and reinforcements
*
Draw SLDs, GA layouts, schematics and wiring diagrams in AutoCAD
*
Prepare BOQs and cost estimates, then build construction design packs for delivery
*
Keep every design to ENA, BS, IEC and DNO standards, and remove risk across the asset’s whole life
