Build the Future of AI-Enabled Engineering

Home-based role but must be commutable to Leeds, Manchester or Sheffield

I'm partnering with a major UK organisation undergoing a significant technology transformation, backed by substantial investment and a clear digital vision.

As part of this journey, they're building a new technology function to redefine how engineering, AI and automation drive business outcomes. This is a rare opportunity to join early and help shape what comes next.

I'm keen to speak with experienced Lead Engineers who combine deep technical expertise with a modern engineering mindset. You'll help define engineering standards, influence technical direction and deliver AI-enabled solutions that create measurable impact across a large, complex organisation.

The Opportunity

As a Lead Engineer, you'll be the senior technical voice across one or two delivery teams. Remaining hands-on, you'll build solutions, mentor engineers and champion engineering excellence throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Working closely with Product Managers, Architects and stakeholders, you'll translate complex challenges into scalable solutions while helping shape engineering standards, best practice and the future direction of the wider technology function.

What My Client Wants

You'll have experience delivering production-grade software using C# .NET and Microsoft Azure and be comfortable making technical decisions across architecture, engineering quality and delivery.

A key focus of this role is building cloud-native, microservices-based solutions within Azure. You'll have strong experience with modern architecture principles, distributed systems and Azure Service Bus, enabling scalable, event-driven platforms.

You'll Bring

  • Strong experience with C# .NET and Azure

    • Expertise designing and delivering microservices architectures

    • Hands-on experience with Azure Service Bus and event-driven integrations

    • Strong understanding of modern architecture, APIs and distributed systems

    • Experience leading technical delivery across engineering teams

    • Focus on quality, resilience, maintainability and operational excellence

    • CI/CD, DevOps and automation experience

    • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

AI & Emerging Technology

My client has successfully rolled out Claude across the business and is now investing heavily in the engineering capability behind it, building the platforms, services and integrations needed to make AI a core organisational capability.

Experience with the following would be highly beneficial:

  • Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)

    • Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot and similar tools

    • AI-enabled products, services or integrations

    • Modern software delivery and AI engineering practices

Essential Technologies

If you're a Lead Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, embracing new technologies and shaping the future of engineering within an AI-first organisation, I'd be keen to speak with you.
