Pay Rate: £23.00 - £25.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Temporary Contract: Full Time | Initial 2 - 3 Month Assignment | Potential for Ongoing Work

Bury Council is seeking an experienced and qualified Multi-Skilled Joiner to join its Responsive Repairs Team. Working across occupied and void council properties throughout the borough, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance services to residents.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson with social housing experience who takes pride in delivering first-class workmanship and customer service.

Day-to-day of the role

You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of joinery repairs and maintenance works, whilst also undertaking secondary trade duties as required. The successful candidate will be expected to diagnose and resolve repair issues efficiently, ensuring work is completed safely, professionally and to a high standard.

• First and second fix joinery works
• Installation and repair of doors, frames, skirting boards and architraves
• Window and lock repairs
• Kitchen unit and worktop installations
• Repairs and renewal of composite doors and UPVC windows
• Gaining access through various door lock and window mechanisms
• Timber flooring repairs
• Roofing repairs
• Boxing-in works and stud wall construction
• General carpentry maintenance across housing stock
• Basic plumbing repairs and installations
• Fitting sinks, baths, wash hand basins and WCs
• Minor alterations to pipework
• Tiling and re-grouting works
• Plaster patching and minor brickwork repairs
• Pointing repairs
• Unblocking WCs and waste pipes
• Repairs to gutters and downpipes
• Replacing taps, washers and waste fittings
• Basic painting and decorating tasks
• External maintenance including paving slab and gully repairs
• Undertaking works identified within void property standards
• Attending training and carrying out duties commensurate with the role

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Time-served Joiner with relevant qualifications, NVQ Level 3 Qualified
• Experience working within social housing repairs and maintenance
• Ability to undertake a broad range of secondary trade duties
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Own tools
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
• Reliable, professional and committed to delivering a high-quality repairs service
• Responsive repairs and maintenance to council housing stock
• Diagnosing repair issues and achieving first-time fixes wherever possible
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with required standards
• Delivering excellent customer service to tenants and residents
• Maintaining accurate records of completed work
