Site / Setting Out Engineer – High-Spec External Works

- Rate: £280 – £320/day
- Duration: 6 months (Immediate Start)
About the Role:
We are recruiting a Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering subcontractor on a high-profile project in South London. Working directly alongside an experienced PM, you will take ownership of setting out high-finish external works, elevated roof terraces, and podium structures, while acting as the technical link between drawings and physical installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision Setting Out: Drive lines, pins, and control points for high-spec external paving, structural finishes, podium slabs, and associated groundworks.
- Technical QA & RFIs: Rigorously review structural and architectural drawings, identify design clashes early, and draft concise Request for Information (RFI) documents to resolve discrepancies.
- Quality Control: Manage on-site QC inspections, sign-off check sheets, verify tolerances, and ensure all works strictly align with project specifications.
- Site Management Support: Assist the Project Manager with material take-offs, concrete ordering, permits to dig, and subcontractor coordination on a restricted footprint.
Requirements:
- Minimum HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Demonstrable track record managing high-finish external works and structural podium packages.
- Highly proficient with modern total stations and reading complex CAD/DWG drawings.
