Interventions include specialist cognitive and perceptual assessment; tone and spasticity assessment and management (including casting and splinting), specialist seating and complex discharge & rehabilitation planning. Early OT interventions often focus on reducing secondary complications associated with acute admissions (e.g. early mobilisation - reducing risk of chest infections; early tone assessment and management - reducing risk of contractures and long-term need for spasticity management).

The post holder is responsible for the daily management of their clinical caseload including prioritisation and allocation to junior and/or support staff. The clinical effectiveness of the service is monitored through recognised performance service metrics (SNNAP/ NHS-E / UKROC data set and local Therapies Scorecard Activity data.)
The post holder also contributes to the delivery of the neurosciences 7-day therapy services and assists the Trust in meeting their objectives around patient flow and outstanding care every time.
