Carpentry Lecturer

Temporary | Contract

Location: London

Salary: £43,000 per annum

Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider to deliver high-quality teaching and practical training to learners studying carpentry and joinery programmes, helping them build the technical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours the construction industry expects.

Working across both workshop and classroom settings, you'll combine theory with hands-on practical application, preparing learners for industry-recognised qualifications, apprenticeships, further study and employment.

If you have strong industry experience but haven't taught before, that's not a barrier — support is available to help you develop into a confident and effective lecturer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective lessons aligned with curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Set up, supervise and demonstrate practical workshop sessions safely and effectively.
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment that motivates learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Assess, review and record learner progress, and maintain course and learner records.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery or a related construction discipline
  • Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery
  • A genuine passion for developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one with support
  • Assessor qualifications
  • Experience of teaching in further education

Build the Next Generation of Tradespeople

If you're ready to share your trade knowledge and help learners launch their careers in construction, we'd love to hear from you.
