Job summary

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) provides comprehensive respiratory services across the boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and Hillingdon. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Band 7 Respiratory Clinical Specialist Nurse to join our Respiratory Service.

The successful applicant will join an established multidisciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality respiratory care across acute settings. The role will involve supporting patients with a range of respiratory conditions, including COPD, bronchiectasis, asthma, home oxygen therapy, and patients receiving care through the Respiratory Virtual Ward.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to support service development, promote evidence-based practice, and contribute to the education and development of staff. This is an excellent opportunity to influence the future direction of respiratory services and improve outcomes for patients living with long-term respiratory conditions.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide expert clinical assessment, management and follow-up for patients with a range of respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, and patients requiring home oxygen therapy.
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner, undertaking advanced clinical assessments, formulating management plans and making evidence-based clinical decisions.
  • Support the delivery and development of Respiratory Virtual Ward services, ensuring safe monitoring and management of patients in the community.
  • Work collaboratively with respiratory consultants, therapists, primary care teams, community services and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide integrated respiratory care.
  • Lead and coordinate specialist nurse-led respiratory clinics, providing ongoing assessment, treatment, education and support to patients and their families.
  • Contribute to the management of patients with acute exacerbations of respiratory disease, supporting admission avoidance and facilitating timely hospital discharge where appropriate.
