How these figures are worked out

  • Advertised, not earned. These are the salaries employers are offering today. Advertised pay runs ahead of what people are actually paid, because employers advertise to attract.
  • Specialist, not national. Everything here is banking & finance, medical, oil & gas and technology, and nothing under ₦3,000,000 a year is carried at all. That is why these figures sit well above the national median for all jobs.
  • Median, not mean. A handful of director roles drags an average upwards. The median is the typical advert.
  • Day and hourly rates are annualised at 260 working days and 37.5 hours a week, so a contract rate and a salary can sit in the same figure.
  • A guide is published only once a role has listings with advertised pay behind it. Sample sizes are on every page for exactly this reason.
