Role: European Business Development Manager – Data Centres

Based: Hybrid working, with occasional visits to company offices and travel across the UK and Europe

Salary: £80k-£100k, plus Bonus, Car, Healthcare

ROLE – European Business Development Manager – Data Centres:

Our client specialises in the design, supply, installation, testing and ongoing maintenance of standby power systems and integrated energy solutions. With established facilities across the UK and a highly experienced technical and project delivery team, the business is entering a significant period of growth, with its expanding data-centre business a key driver.

This is a key commercial appointment with responsibility for developing our client’s data-centre business across Europe, driving sustainable revenue growth and profitable order intake. The role will focus on major data-centre projects, developing strategic relationships with developers, operators, investors, consultants, main contractors and MEP contractors, and positioning our client early in the project lifecycle.

You will take the lead in customer engagement, opportunity development, commercial discussions and negotiations, working closely with established proposals, engineering, commercial, project and service teams. This is a strategic, customer-facing business development role for someone who understands the physical infrastructure that supports mission-critical data centres, particularly standby power generation and associated electrical and mechanical systems. It is not an IT or software sales position.

Candidate – European Business Development Manager – Data Centres:

  • You will have a demonstrable track record in senior sales, business development or key account management within the data-centre or mission-critical infrastructure sector.
  • You will understand the data-centre market and have experience selling major plant, equipment or engineered infrastructure solutions into data centres.
  • A strong practical understanding of standby power generation and associated infrastructure is highly desirable, including HV/LV switchgear, UPS, cooling, HVAC, fuel systems and controls.
  • You will be commercially astute, with experience managing complex, high-value sales cycles, strategic accounts and contract negotiations.
  • You will be a polished and credible communicator, comfortable building relationships with senior decision-makers and leading customer meetings and presentations.
  • You will be proactive in developing networks, identifying opportunities early and building long-term relationships across the data-centre sector.
  • You will be comfortable working autonomously, while collaborating with internal sales, engineering, proposals, projects and service teams.
  • You will be willing to travel across Europe and the UK as required.
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily in IT, software, servers or digital services will not be suitable for this role; the focus is on the engineered plant and infrastructure around the data hall.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business at an important stage in its growth, with the autonomy to help develop our client’s European data-centre business and strengthen its position in a rapidly expanding market.

If you would like to be considered for this position, please forward your current CV stating your suitability for the role.
